Christopher Hoyt, of Sharon, was arrested via a warrant on Wednesday, March 27, while in court on another matter, said the Connecticut State Police.
Hoyt's arrest comes after an intensive investigation by Trooper Corinne Swift of the crash that took place on July 20, 2018, on Housatonic River Road when he lost control of his Jeep Wrangler while making a turn, went up an embankment and flipped the vehicle.
His passenger, 18-year-old Lukas Kosko of North Canaan, later died. Hoyt was not injured.
Hoyt failed a field sobriety test and was charged at the time of the crash with traveling unreasonably fast and operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, state police said.
He was charged Thursday with second-degree manslaughter and misconduct with a motor vehicle.
His bond was set at a total of $7,500.
